Version history can help you get back any content you overwrite, but should be used as a correction to a mistake, not as a workflow for reviewing and tracking changes. This allows you to make changes as normal, including autosave functions. You’ll find this feature as a drop down selection up at the top, on the ribbon below the doc title and next to Clippy’s descendent, the “tell me what you want to do” help search bar. Let’s go over the options and the steps to enabling these statuses. It’s just a quick drop down to start tracking changes, or make the file read only for yourself to block changes. Now this feature is available on Word online and is always visible in the top ribbon. This feature initially was not present in the online version of Word, so you’d have to tell someone to open the file in the local app to see any of those markups. If you enable track changes, anything you change will be marked as a suggestion that can be approved or denied. On the Word desktop application, track changes is great for collaboration. A recent update makes collaboration from anywhere even easier with easier access to reviewing in Office online applications.
The use of the online version of Word has been incredibly useful for working in the cloud. The picture that has always been there previously, the one associated with my computer and Microsoft account, does not reappear in place of the icon.Office 365 collaboration features make the user experience behind working from anywhere a reality. On or off but that just either shows the little generic icon or removes it. So….whether or not it’s related to that, any thoughts on restoring the photo? And yes, under “Track Change Options” “Pictures by Comments” is checked. Say if that’s when the photo disappeared but it was probably at least close to that. I later changed it back to my name and initials. May or may not be related to a time when one of the docs for whom I was doing editing asked me to substitute his name for the comments so it would appear that all the comments were from him. Because I’m a medical editor who is constantly working on files withĬomments from many different people the photo is actually useful because at a glance I can whiz through a 40-page document, just slowing down when I see the photo in order to see if people have responded to my comments.
Now the account picture has disappeared and all you see is the icon of a generic person, along with my name. I have Word 2013 and from the time I first started using it when I click on the Review tab and insert a new comment it wouldĪppear showing my name and my Microsoft “account picture” plus the typed comment. You seem to have solved a lot of other problems in this category so I am hoping you can solve mine, as well.
